Magic Tricks Revealed

Magic Revealed

Have you ever watched your favorite magician on TV and wonder “How did they do that?” Well now there are resources that teach you how to do the very tricks that have astounded millions of people.

Many people love street magic, the style of magic that is performed on the spur of the moment, not on a stage but right on the street with regular people. It’s very difficult to do plenty of the smoke and mirrors, and fantasy tricks that are a major part of Las Vegas types of performance on the street. However, street magic possibly astounds an audience more than at a show because they directly participate in the magic and are less likely to expect any special effects.

One of the most famous street magicians around is David Blaine. Millions of people were awed by his street magic ability. He actually made the whole medium popular again. David Blaine has been know to do wildly popular big tricks, but he is just as well known for his card tricks, mental abilities to magically read peoples minds and of course his signature trick- levitation.

David Blaine actually freaks people out with his magical ability to levitate right in front of you only a few feet away. Most people are amazed that he floats 3 or 4 inches in the air right on the street. They see it with their own eyes and know there are no wires or smoke and mirrors involved. They are absolutely astounded

For magicians in training there are a few sites willing to give away the secrets of famous magicians for a price. But the look on people’s faces when a person levitates in front of you is absolutely priceless.

I watch these shows to get ideas for my projects.

Scrapbooking Gifts

Scrapbook Ideas for Gifts
By Nancy Woodward

Scrap books have always been a popular home based craft. Today there are so many great ideas for a scrapbook that making them are irresistible. Here are some tips on making scrapbooks.

First off, most scrapbook topics should be creative, fun to make and reflect the artist’s personality. There are a host of topics that many people choose, but the sky’s the limit. You can make a scrapbook about anything.

Many people choose to make scrapbooks about big events in their lives, such as a wedding, honeymoon, birthdays, newborn babies and children. However, don’t stop there, create whatever you enjoy. For instance creating a scrapbook on the seasons, or if you love a holiday such as Halloween or the 4th of July. Ideas for scrapbooking are endless only limited by your imagination.

There are many products that cater to scrapbooking, such as entire kits that include the book, some ideas on creating your scrapbook, and the bubble quotes seen in cartoons to add a funny comment above a picture. You can also buy these individual pieces separately or make them yourself. Always keep in mind that a scrapbook is an extension of you and your loved ones. So have fun, be creative and take pleasure in the joy of scrapbooking.

I’ve been using my scrapbook ideas adding them to the gift baskets I make. I find great pleasure in giving a handmade gift inside of another gift. Be resourceful. Turn your scrapbooking project into a fabulous gift.

Pressed Flowers work the Cards

You can create your scrapbooking cards using pressed flowers to decorate them. Pressing flowers can be fun and useful to add color to other projects. Flat flowersw like pansies work well but many flowers can be pressed. I prefer the flat flowers to add to my cardstock projects.

Yellow in buttercups and daisiers holds well. Red and purpule flowers tend to turn brown. Use some leaves and stems for contrast.

Place your flowers and leaves between blotting paper. Over top of this put corrugated board. Stack up four to six layers then pile several heavy books on top for about a week.

The blotting paper absorbs the moisture. When the flowers are dry, you need to take care when touching them. Illustrations of dryed flowers can be matted and framed very inexpensively. You can add your flowers to cardstock, use some clear contact paper to hold them tight. You can wrap the adhesive paper around the card and trim the edges. The cards can be used for greeting cards, placecards and more.

Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking

I've fallen in love with the product. I receive so many beautiful cards from my daugthter and her friends, that I wonder why Hallmark sells so many cards. You can design your own card, include pictures or other family memories so easily.

My daughter and her friends make cards and so many other treasures. I've received beautiful albums and more. I find these gifts to be so precious. There is so much to be said in receiving a gift 'from the heart'.

I enjoy this so much I've created an information Scrapbooking website to apply her and her friends to access online sites more easily.

Finding Craft Suppliers

Finding Craft Suppliers
by Nancy Wood

If you are into crafts, then you know how difficult it is to always find the right supplies for your craft projects. Whether it is for a small craft business or a home hobby, it can be difficult to organize all the places you need to purchase your craft needs from. There are many mega craft shops but they sometimes don’t have that special item that makes a project totally unique. If you are having trouble finding products for your craft hobbies and business, you need to look into purchasing a crafts directory.

How would you like to have practically every craft supplier in your rolodex? Well that is what these directories do. They organize and compile information of the best and most unique craft suppliers from all over the world. Many shops only carry products that are familiar within the United States, how would you like to buy crafts from Nepal, Tibet, Vietnam, Czech Republic or France where craftsman sell difficult to find materials and exotic designs. Just think how unique crafts can set your creations apart from the rest of the competition.

If you are interested in a craft directory, there are a few available. Many are inexpensive and worth the price once you find that one in a million item for your hobby or business.

Craft or Hobby?

The Difference Between Crafts And Hobbies
by Nan Wood

A question you often hear at arts and crafts fairs is “What is the difference between crafts and hobbies?” The truthful answer is that there is not a lot of difference between crafts and hobbies, apart from the fact that hobbies is a term to describe a broader ranger of activities, whereas crafts is a more inclusive term.

In short, a hobby is a pleasurable activity that someone usually does in their free time whereby they collect things that are of interest to them. So, for example, it is possible to collect matchbox toy cars, china, elephant figurines, and any number of other things.

A craft, on the other hand, involves an activity in which the participant actually makes something out of nothing. Stitching, weaving, carving, printing, woodwork, etc. are all examples of what constitutes a craft. In this case, people often undertake crafts as a form of relaxation and as a hobby. Stitching is a perfect example of how a craft may be considered a hobby. However, in most cases being good at crafts can also earn you good money – either as a primary source of income or as a secondary source of income. Indeed, not everyone who enjoys crafts keeps the end product – they may give it away as a gift to a relative or friend (as with painting or needlework), or they may sell it.

As crafts people rarely keep the item that they are making, it is not commonly seen as being a hobby – which normally involves people collecting what they do. However, as crafts is such an enjoyable pastime, with the person rarely feeling like they have to actually work, unless it is a work of love, crafts can also be seen as a hobby, which is time spent undertaking an activity you find pleasure at.

In conclusion then, the next time someone asks you what the difference between a craft and a hobby is, you can tell them that the term hobby is a broader term than the term ‘craft’ and that crafts are a sub-category of the term ‘hobby’.

Digital Photos

Digital Photos
by Nan Wood

I understand that using digital photos with your scrapbooking projects is very prevalent. I recently invested in one of the printers that doesn't require a computer to give me instant gratification.

My Scrapper friends have suggested I now incorporate these family photos in with my card projects. This is a wonderful idea. They've been there done that, I'm a newbie at scrapping.

I had the pleasure of seeeing my friend's projects. How great it is to see your family on display.
